Shakespearean Puppet Mass

A visual and musical conception of Shakespearean texts that become voices from elsewhere and turn into images embroidered in precious fabrics and jewels, printed on sugar paper, painted on a brass plate. Glimpses of stories, characters and texts unfold into a material ritual, led by two women around the Globe's jewelry box. Become a shareholder of the famous theatre on the banks of the Thames and experience a festive space-time of dreaming and imagination.

Khwoshch is a Czech-Russian-German group, operating between Prague and Berlin. Their debut in 2021 was Dinopera, a prehistoric tragic opera featuring arias performed by extinct animals, including dinosaurs. The group has a continuous focus on experimental puppet theatre, blending it with diverse scenic forms. These include ballet (The Nutcracker. Vegetable Ballet), text-based drama (Shakespearean Puppet Mass), and researches the phenomenon of object animation itself (Heavy Theatre). Practicing Devised Theatre approach, Khwoshch places strong emphasis on material and sound as core dramaturgical components.
